Catherine Schwebel

Catherine transitioned from corporate training into instructional design, creating a visually impactful portfolio that led to multiple interviews and strong interest from healthcare and corporate teams.

She had the transferable skills, but building a standout portfolio and navigating the competitive job market on her own felt overwhelming. The program gave her the structure, feedback, and support she needed to move forward with confidence.

Flagship Project

Reducing Medication Errors with Scenario-Based Learning

For her flagship project, Catherine tackled a real-world challenge: reducing medication errors among nurses. Working with a nurse as her subject matter expert, she designed a scenario-based learning experience that guides nurses through critical thinking and best practices in medication administration.

She brought the project to life with strong visual design and AI-generated images that simulate realistic clinical environments. The branching structure reinforces decision-making and accountability, blending instructional theory with engaging, real-life context.

Behind the Work

From Uncertain Path to Confident Designer

Before joining the bootcamp, Catherine was working in corporate training but felt unsure how to fully pivot into instructional design. She knew she had relevant experience, but the process of building a portfolio and navigating the job market felt overwhelming.

With weekly support meetings and detailed feedback from her dedicated mentor, she found the accountability and encouragement she needed. Though she was still interviewing for roles at the time of writing, her polished portfolio was already opening doors across the industry.

Catherine left the program with a portfolio she's proud of and a deepened understanding of what the field demands, prepared and excited for what's ahead.

The Full Story, In Their Own Words

“Before joining the Devlin Peck bootcamp, I was working in corporate training but felt unsure how to fully pivot into instructional design. I knew I had relevant experience, but the process of building a portfolio and navigating the job market felt overwhelming — and I didn't know how to stand out. I needed structure, feedback, and a way to move forward with clarity.”

“The bootcamp delivered exactly that. The learning programs were thorough and always evolving to reflect current trends, like integrating AI into design workflows. The coursework was challenging in a way that helped me grow, and I felt confident that I was developing real, in-demand skills. Weekly support meetings with Sabrina and Scott created a sense of accountability, and the detailed, thoughtful feedback I received from my mentor coach made a huge difference in shaping my work.”

“Thanks to the academy, I left with a portfolio I'm truly proud of and a renewed sense of direction in my career. I've been landing interviews and feel excited for what's ahead. My advice to others in the program? Invest in your peer group, embrace the feedback, and trust the process — it works.”
