Founder & Instructional Designer at EK Learn Design LLC
Ewa transitioned from teaching into a thriving freelance career as the Founder and Instructional Designer at EK Learn Design LLC, designing eLearning for global organizations like Doosan Bobcat.

Before joining Peck Academy, Ewa Kwiatkowski was a special education teacher on an unexpected career break. After years of long hours and emotional burnout, a change in immigration status paused her career completely. “Transitioning to my husband’s visa meant I lost my work authorization for nearly two years,” she recalls. “It was a forced pause that made me rethink what I wanted my life and work to look like.”
During that time, she discovered instructional design through Devlin Peck’s videos and community. “I immediately knew it was the right fit,” she says. “But I felt stuck—I didn’t know what skills to learn or how to build a portfolio that would actually get me hired.”
When she joined Peck Academy, she found the structured guidance and mentorship she’d been looking for. With support from her mentor, Scott Schmidt, and a community of like-minded career switchers, Ewa built confidence, clarity, and a career path that felt sustainable.
“I was surrounded by people rebuilding their careers. The mentorship and feedback gave me the confidence to take ownership of my journey.”
After completing her portfolio and regaining work authorization, Ewa launched EK Learn Design LLC, her own instructional design consultancy. Within months, she began contracting with Doosan Bobcat, a global leader in construction and manufacturing equipment.
Ewa’s flagship project, Mastering Sales Techniques, helps beauty clinic staff strengthen their client communication and sales skills through immersive, decision-based scenarios.
Learners navigate realistic customer interactions—choosing how to respond, upsell, or handle objections—and immediately see the impact of their choices on client satisfaction and long-term relationships.
To create this experience, Ewa followed a structured instructional design process rooted in action mapping, ensuring every moment in the course drove meaningful behavior change.
After mapping desired actions, she built detailed storyboards, developed custom graphics, and designed interactive prototypes in Articulate Storyline 360.
A mentor character guides learners throughout, helping them reflect on mistakes and apply feedback—mirroring the type of responsive, human-centered learning Ewa champions in her professional work.

“I wanted to create a story-driven experience where learners could safely practice and reflect on their choices. By using action mapping and continuous feedback, I made sure every design decision supported real-world performance.”

Ewa’s journey from teacher to instructional designer unfolded over several years of persistence, skill-building, and self-discovery.
Through Peck Academy, she built a professional portfolio featuring one flagship project and three supporting pieces.
Her clear process documentation and scenario-based approach consistently impressed interviewers and clients alike.
While waiting for her work authorization, Ewa volunteered with the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI), collaborating on multi-module healthcare eLearning. That experience not only strengthened her teamwork and technical communication skills but also prepared her for real-world ID challenges.
When she officially launched EK Learn Design LLC, Ewa stepped confidently into freelance work, consulting with stakeholders, defining measurable objectives, and designing eLearning that drives performance.
Today, her projects with Doosan Bobcat focus on workforce development, safety, and operational excellence—all rooted in the design principles she mastered through the program.
"The program gave me not only the skills, but the confidence to start my own instructional design business. I learned how to design effective learning solutions from start to finish, manage projects, communicate with stakeholders, and present my work professionally.
Through projects with organizations like FGI and Bobcat, I learned how to navigate complex technical subject matter, manage large-scale projects, and translate complicated concepts into simple, engaging learning experiences.
I’m proud that such well-known organizations with complex training needs trusted me to build their learning solutions.”
